Nagaland to observe National Science Day

Kohima: National Science Day 2014 on the theme “Fostering Scientific Temper” will be celebrated at Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima on February 28. The Department of Science & Technology, Government of Nagaland and the District Education Officer, Kohima have jointly organizes the programme.  Short-listed school will participate in an open category general ‘Science Quiz’ covering course area of classes 1(one) to 11(eleven) by sending one student as competitor and at least 10 (ten) students as spectators.

The competition event will start at 9:30 am while the celebration event will commence at 12:00 Noon with Tovihoto Ayemi, Parliamentary, Science & Technology, IT& C, TE& Taxes, Government of Nagaland as the chief guest.

A brief talk on the life of C.V. Raman, the great Indian Scientist whose birth anniversary is celebrated on February 28 as National Science Day every year will be delivered by Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Professor, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma and a prominent Scientist Dr. K. Ruckmani, Director, Centre for Excellence in Nanobio Translational Research (Centre), Prof. & Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Anna University, Bharathidasan Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli will deliver a talk on Nanotachnology. Dr. Zavei Hiese, Senior Scientific Officer, Directorate of Science & Technology will chair the Celebration Event and Senthang, District Education Officer Kohima will offer the vote of thanks.
