Kohima, January 25 (MExN): Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland observed National Voters’ Day on January 25 where the ‘National Voters’ Day’ pledge was taken in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference hall by the officers and staff.
The programme was chaired by the Secretary Home, Bendangkokba who also administered the pledge.
Earlier, in his introductory message the chairperson appreciated the direction given by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections without being influenced by religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement.
Directorate of Information & Public Relations: The officers and staff of the Directorate of Information & Public Relations took pledge for promotion of the democratic electoral participation on the occasion of the National Voters Day celebration on January 25 at the IPR citadel conference hall, Kohima. The pledge was administered by Director IPR, Pausui Zeliang while Additional Director IPR chaired the programme.
Mokokchung: The 6th National Voters Day was held at Mokokchung under the theme “Inclusive and Qualitative Participation” on January 25 at Town hall, Mokokchung.
DC Mokokchung Sushil Kumar IAS DC & DEO Mokokchung in his keynote address said that the National Voters Day was started in 2011 especially for the youth who has attained the age of 18 yrs. Special appearance, Imkongnungchet, a physically disabled person highlighted his experiences in the past election, said that the polling stations should be in a proper place where even the disabilities person can go for exercising his franchise. He urged the Election Commission to look into the circumstances faced by people like him.
Dean of Post Graduate Studies CTC Aolijen, Dr. Mar Pongener as a special guest exhorted the voters to exercise their franchise freely without any doubt. The programme was chaired by AEO Mokokchung, Roland Merry which was followed by the felicitation of the best BLOs under Mokokchung District.
Pughoboto: BLOs, NGOs, Church leaders and students under Pughoboto Sub-Division joined the 6th National Voters day celebration which was held with the theme “Inclusive and Qualitative Participation” at the ADC’s office compound on January 25.
Additional Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Pughoboto, Avelu Ruho emphasized on the theme stating that Government officials are bound by the constitution to make clean e-roll and delete the dead names and multiple enrollment.
T. Axhi Lohe P/S No 30 Laza Izoqawas was awarded the best BLO of the year 2016 under Pughoboto Sub Division which was given away by ADC & DEO. She also handed over the I/D card to the newly enrolled.
SDO (C) & ERO, Pughoboto, Er. Namang Sepong Chang gave the introduction and significance of NVD.
President PPKK, Kitoho V. Zhimo delivered a short speech. The ADC administered of the NVD pledge and did the presentation & distribution of I/D cards to the newly enrolled electorates was also given away by her.
The programme was chaired by EAC, Pughoboto, Selemla and invocation was rendered by Police Unit church, Pughoboto, Pastor, Pasang Sherpa. Vote of thanks was pronounced by EAC, Ghathashi, T.Sulangthung.
Tuensang: Along with the rest of the nation the 6th National voters’ day held at CKS hall Tuensang on 25th January 2015 under the theme “Inclusive & Qualitative Participation”. The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Alem Jongshi, officials of different departments, BLOs and many newly enrolled voters from wards. T.Y. Sangtam President USLP and Secretary RCS, Tuensang was the chief guest of the programme.
Audio message from the Office of Chief Election Commissioner was relayed to the gathering. DBs of Tuensang presented folk song while Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang gave the welcome address to the gathering. AEO Tuensang also initiated the NVD pledge.
Song competition within the wards was also held and the winner of the competition was bagged by Old Medical Sector Tuensang. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by EAC Tuensang HQ, Weko Zhiemi.
Zunheboto: Zunheboto observed the 6th National Voters Day on 25th January 2016 under the theme “Inclusive and Qualitative Participation”.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Election Officer, Chisho K. Swu highlighted various programmes with special attention to disabled persons and minorities being initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for inclusive participation and asked every eligible individual to develop sense of responsibility to vote without being influenced by any unfair inducement.
ADC, Zunheboto, Nungsangmenla Imchen administered the Voters Pledge and gave away prizes to the best BLOs of 31-36 Assembly Constituencies, to the winners of Art & Painting Competition and Essay Writing Competition. Newly enrolled voters were also issued.
