Nagaland along with the rest of the country observed Paryatan Parv- “Dekho Apna Desh” here at the conference hall of the Directorate of Tourism. Organized by Directorate of Tourism Nagaland under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, DoNER and NEC, prizes have been handed over to winners of Kohima inter school painting competition on eco-tourism.
Bendangakum of Holy Family Higher Secondary School stood first position while Teisoneise Sachii of Northfield Higher Secondary School and Aniizo Nienu of Mezhur Higher Secondary School bagged 2nd and third position respectively.
Cultural songs from Kekhrie and Azi, Pfuchazhünuoko of Kohima village and Dzüvekrotho of Pholami village also marked the occasion.
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with other Central Ministries and State Governments organizes “Paryatan Parv” across the country from October 5 to 25, 2017.
The objective of Paryatan Parv is to draw focus on the benefits of tourism, showcase the cultural diversity of the country and reinforce the principle of “Tourism for All”.
The event envisages large scale participation by the public as well as industry stakeholders.
A series of events and activities held, which includes illumination in and around tourist sites across the country, cultural programmes, exhibitions showcasing handlooms, handicrafts and cuisine, artisans workshops at different locations, competitions for students, sensitisation programmes for tourism service providers, yoga demonstrations, etc.
Interactive sessions and workshops on varied themes related to skill development in the tourism sector, development of rural tourism sites, and media related activities also arranged.
Akhale Vizol, joint director, Directorate of Tourism Nagaland in her keynote address maintained that tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
Tourism contributes the country’s economy, she said.
Stating that tourism also offers job opportunity, she stressed on the need to promote tourism together. She called upon the students to propagate conservation of environment in their level and create conducive atmosphere to live in.
The function was chaired by Ajanuo Belho, deputy director, Directorate of Tourism Nagaland.
Vikechiino Sachii spoke on behalf of teacher while vote of thanks was proposed by Veyielo Doulo, assistant director, Directorate of Tourism Nagaland.
