Nagaland observes Road Safety Week

KOHIMA, JANUARY 13 (MExN): The 24th National Road Safety Week is being observed in Nagaland from January 11 to 17. Banners spreading the message ‘Road Safety Awareness Drive’ with the theme ‘You First’ are seen in different corners of the State capital. India records an average of one crore accidents a year. While about 16 lakh accidents in India are major, an average of 1.2 lakh people die of road mishaps every year.  Currently, one accident death happens every six minutes in India and according to a study, by 2030 it will be one death in three minutes. 78 percent of the accidents are caused due to the negligence of drivers, especially due to over speeding.
