Nagaland Olympics & Paralympic Games 2024: Zunheboto shines from zero to hero with 9 medals on Day-5

Kohima leads tally with 54 medals

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 16 (MExN): Zunheboto district, which has been languishing at the bottom without any medals till day IV of the 3rd Nagaland Olympics & Paralympic Games 2024, stormed into the spotlight by securing an impressive tally of 9 medals on Friday. 

The district contingent initially facing a challenging start to the games showcased their powers in the Wushu tournament the team won 9 medals which include 3 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze while emerging as the overall champion of the competition. 

Meanwhile, Kohima district continued its lead with an addition of 20 more medals in its kitty at the State Olympics on Day 5. The contingent from the state capital clinched 12 more gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze to take their medal tally to 54. Dimapur trailed behind with addition of 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze to an overall 35 medals and securing the second highest in the tally. 

On Friday, Phek district made a 10 bronze medal haul along with 6 silver and a gold to retain the third place (43 medals) in the medal tally. While Wokha district has already opened its account with 4 silver and 10 bronze, a gold medal still remain elusive for its contingent.
