Nagaland on Girl Child day unites for ‘My Voice, Our Equal Future’

Dimapur, October 12 (MExN): The International Day of the Girl Child was observed in various part of Nagaland under the initiative of district administration and other nodal bodies under the theme, ‘My Voice, Our Equal Future’ on October 11. 

Mokokchung: The District Administration and the District Level Centre for Women-MSK Mokokchung under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mokokchung celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child DLCW-MSK visited the Care & Support Society Orphanage Home and distributed with gift hampers to the children. 

The team campaigned door to door sensitizing the community about the PC & PNDT Act with pamphlets and every girl child were distributed with gift hampers in Alongchen, Sungratsu village. The team distributed pamphlets in and around Mokokchung town churches, CHCs and PHCs. 

A slam poetry basing on the theme, a message to the human kind from Nichet Jamir was released on the Beti Bachao Beti Pahao, Mokokchung YouTube channel. The song titled ‘The Aid’ by the uprising band from Mokokchung called ‘Mimbit’ was also released for the said cause. 

The Rotaract Club of Dimapur and Rotary Club of Dimapur celebrated International Day of Girl Child on October 11.The Deputy Commissioner of Police of Zone 2 of Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen graced the occasion. Imchen was made honorary member of Rotary Club of Dimapur as a token of respect for the work she is delivering towards the society. The Club gave scholarship to three girl child on the basis of their merit and academic performance.

Peren: Peren observed International Day of Girl Child, a day dedicated to amplify the voice of the girl child stand up for their rights.

District Administration, Sakhi-One Stop Centre in convergence with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Mahila Shakti Kendra initiated sponsorship scholarship with the objective to celebrate the achievement and is also a call to action for accelerating gender parity as well as to encourage, recognise and support meritorious girl students belonging to weaker section. 

Ziedibi of class 10 and Leihaucule of class 12, both from Government Higher Secondary School, Peren received sponsorship scholarship with an amount of Rs 5000 each based on their outstanding performances. 

Meanwhile, as part of skill development programme, knitting set and plastic rope for making basket were also distributed to the girl child and adolescents of Servanthood Ministry Children Home Peren town.
