
PHEK, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The Suthozumi Chess Association from Phek district, Nagaland, will be organising its first-ever Nagaland Online Open Chess Tournament on August 15, at 1:30 PM. The event, being conducted under the aegis of the Nagaland Chess Association, is aimed at promoting the game of chess across the state. According to the organisers, the tournament will be played online using the Lichess server in a 13-round Swiss League format with a Blitz time control of 3 minutes per game.
A total prize pool of Rs 20,800 has been announced, which will be awarded across multiple categories. These include prizes for the top 20 players in the Open category, as well as for the top three players each in the Under-17 and Under-11 age groups. Additionally, special prizes will be awarded to the best female player and the best veteran player.
The tournament is open exclusively to residents of Nagaland. The registration fee has been set at ₹200 for the Open category and Rs 100 for Under-17, Under-11, female, and veteran players.
