Nagaland orders employee ID verification by June 3

Kohima, May 22 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has directed all unauthenticated State Government employees to mandatorily submit identity documents for verification under the Personal Information Management System (PIMS).

In a notification issued on May 22 by the Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department through its PIMS Cell, the government stated the move aims to strengthen employee authentication and ensure better governance.

According to the department, several instructions were previously issued to link Aadhaar with PIMS through official memorandums dated June 14, 2018, August 2, 2018, October 29, 2018, and July 28, 2021. However, a significant number of employees are yet to complete the Aadhaar linkage process, resulting in failure of identity authentication.

In view of the need to authenticate all State Government employees, the notification directed all unauthenticated employees to submit their identity documents to their respective departments for onward submission to the P&AR Department.

Aadhaar has been prescribed as the first option for authentication.

In cases where Aadhaar is unavailable or an employee refuses to provide it, the notification said employees may alternatively submit any two of the following documents, in accordance with the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020: PAN Card, Driving Licence, Indian Passport, Bank Passbook of the salary account, or HSLC or equivalent Class X Admit Card displaying photograph, father’s name and date of birth.

The order, issued by Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, set a compliance deadline of June 3, 2026, and directed all unauthenticated employees to comply without fail.
