There will be total ban on movement of individuals or vehicles from 4:00 pm to 5:00 am everyday all over the State, except for those exempted under lockdown measures as Nagaland extended the lockdown period again from June 19 to 30.

This was among the new additional provisions added to the existing measures issued after a meeting of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio decided to extend the lockdown on Wednesday.

The District Task Forces (DTFs) may take additional stricter measures depending on local conditions in their respective Districts/ areas, stated an order issued by State Chief Secretary on June 16.

After reviewing the current situation, the HPC in its June 16 meeting observed that the positivity rate of COVID-19 in the State continues to remain high, above 5% in all the districts warranting the need for taking adequate measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19, it said.

In addition, after taking the views of the State’s Health and Family Welfare Department and the DTFs, the Chief Secretary, as the Chairperson, the State Executive Committee, directed the existing lockdown measures to continue  with the additional provisions, it added.

To check the surge in number of COVID-19 cases in the State, Nagaland first imposed total lockdown from May 14, which was later extended to June 11.  Again, the State extended lockdown till June 18 with more relaxations. With the latest extension concluded, Nagaland would have been under lockdown for nearly one-and-half-month.
