Nagaland: Over 1100 join AR, Armed Forces Veteran’s Rally

Mokokchung, January 18 (MExN): A joint Assam Rifles and Armed Forces Veteran’s Rally on the theme ‘serving those, who served the nation’ was organised at Mokokchung by Assam Rifles on January 17. Major General Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) graced the occasion as  the chief guest.

More than 1100 Veterans, Veer Naris, Widows of Assam Rifles, Army, Navy and Air Force from all districts of Nagaland attended the event, stated a press release issued by the PRO, HQ IGAR (North).

Record branch officers from HQ DGAR, Col Veteran from 41 Sub Area & Director Rajya Sainik Board addressed the veterans on matters related to pension. 

Brigadier Vikram Singh, Commander 7 Sector Assam Rifles delivered a welcome note and updated them about the various facilities provided at the venue.

Addressing the gathering, IGAR (N) appreciated the veterans, Veer Naris and Widows who travelled long distances to attend the rally and encouraged them to be more well versed with use of pension related apps.

Veterans were provided medical aid like wheel chairs, hearing aids, walking sticks and spectacles.

A total of 28 stalls were placed which included Records branch for documentation, Army Recruitment Office, Pension Cell, Resettlement Branch, Banks, Agriculture Department, Skill development, State Legal Services and Canteen services to provide instant services regarding long pending issues or grievances of ex-servicemen.

The Veterans and Veer Naris expressed their happiness and gratitude for the efforts of Directorate General of Assam Rifles in organising the event, it added.
