MOKOKCHUNG, JULY 12 (MExN): Advisor, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Kazheto Kinimi inaugurated the Mini Dairy Plant cum Dairy Farmers’ Training Centre at Marepkong Ward, Mokokchung on on July 12.
The Centre was set up under NPDD (National Programme for Dairy Development), and constructed under the initiative of the Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Nagaland State Dairy Co-operative Federation Ltd. Kohima, a DIPR report informed.
Kinimi, in his speech said, the PDA government is committed to bring about a ‘white revolution’ in the state through mass based organization/co-operative societies in line with the National Policy on Dairy Development.
He said the small yet important step taken today would lead the way for greater development in the future as the state is yet to reach self-sufficiency in milk, egg, poultry, livestock and meat production.
The Advisor said the people of the state must realize that dairy farming has great potential in Nagaland and can provide gainful employment to various sections of the society. He encouraged the people, especially the younger generation to venture into this sector stating that the Department on its part would do its best to guide and assist aspiring entrepreneurs in the sector.
Kinimi also asked the dairy farmers in the district to support and co-operate with the Department while stating that the physical infrastructure is made by the Department but it can turn into an economic infrastructure only when both the Department and the dairy farmers work hand in hand.
Managing Director, NSDCF Ltd., Dr Joseph Angami delivered the keynote address and Secretary, MDCMPU Ltd., L. Yanger Lemtor delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme was chaired by Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Dr Achila Ao. The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Associate Pastor, Marepkong Baptist Church, Takatoshi.
During the technical session, topics on ‘Fertility Management of Dairy Cattle and Quality & Clean Milk Production’ were highlighted by General Manager, MDP, Dr Sanen Jamir and Project Director, NSDCF Ltd., Zapove Swuro.
