The Phek District Maytas Gayatri Damaged Victim's Association (PDMGDVA) held its general meeting at Chozuba town local ground on November 14.

The association deliberated on pending damage compensation for people whose normal lives have been affected for nearly 10 years now due to random construction of 2 lanning Zunheboto - Chakhabama and Pfutsero - Phek Road under Phek District. A four point resolutions was adopted at the meeting.

The meeting acknowledged the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) for resolving to pursue the matter of pending damage compensation from the firm Maytas-Gayatri (JV) and the subsequent filing of a PIL in the High Court.

It also thanked all VCCs & GBs of the affected villages working to ensure that justice is delivered to the aggrieved victims. The meeting resolved to give full cooperation and comply with any condition set hereafter by CPO for the welfare of victims in particular and the community in general.

“Taking cognizance of strong resistance and defiance of CPO's resolution by the 2-Lane Sedzü to Dzülha Aggrieved Property Owners Association,” the house unanimously resolved that if the court process is affected or hampered in any manner, “all signatories of the premeditated complaint letter shall be held accountable and shall bear every penny of damage compensation.”

The PDMGDVA said it would resort to its own course of action and responsibility for any hindrance to the ongoing 2 lane road projects would be borne by the signatories of the said letter. The resolution was read out by PDMGDVA General Secretary, Kuvesa Medeo at the meeting.

The house also mandated the PDMGDVA to act as sole representative of the “victim community,” and authorized existing office bearers to coordinate with apex body CPO and petitioners to pursue the court case.

Earlier, Zhovehu Lohe, Vaprumu Demo and Zachilhu Vadeo spoke on behalf of the CPO petitioners and called upon the public to stay united.

Other who spoke at the meeting included CPO Vice Presidents, Vehuswu and Süneyi; Chozuba Range Public Organization (CRPO) President, Kutipra Lohe; Centre Chakhesang Public Organization (CCPO) President, Nehüsa Cükhamo; PDMGDVA Convenor, Pushovoyi Nyekha; and PDMGDVA Co Convenor, Vepozoyi.
