Nagaland Peace Centre remembers Late H. Hesso

Beloved friends and children of Late H. Hesso

We deeply mourn the sudden demise of Late H. Hesso who was the Governing Body Member of the Nagaland Peace Centre, Kohima. At his death we lost a great personality who represented the Federal Government of Nagaland in the reank of Colonel and worked with the Peace Observer Team to Implement the Ceasefire agreement signed between the Government of India and the Federal Government of Nagaland since 6th September 1964. During his tenure he spoke to Nagaland Youth Peace Corps and stressed the Federal Government of Nagaland and through his efforts many precious lives were saved and defused many dangerous feuds/ situation. He emphasized three issues one of which is political which is yet to be resolved through peaceful means. Secondly, on the economic front he expressed great concern about the economic problem of Nagas as many talented Naga Youth were not employed which may create serious problem to the society. On the religious front, he said that Nagas profess Christianity but failed to live like Jesus Christ. On the social front he advocated that in Nagaland, use of alchohol beyond measure is spoiling many Naga youth to lead a peaceful and pious life to build a decent and healthy society. He also added saying “the highest moral law is that we should unremittingly work for the good of mankind”.

My friend Late Hesso worked very hard for unity of the Nagas. He even went to Bangkok to meet the collective leadership of I.M. for Naga reconciliation because of factional clashes at that time. We also attended the first consultative meeting which was held at Nuiland during May and June 1999 where we spoke on reconciliation and unification of Nagas. In 2001-2002 during the visit of Shri L.K. Advani, Hon’ble Union Home Minister, a delegation of Nagaland Peace Centre, Kohima met him at Raj Bhavan, Kohima. During the meeting late Hesso spoke and informed Home Minister that he joined Naga freedom movement; but soon he realized that peace is indispensable and without peace life is impossible. So he joined peace movement and acted as Peace Observer and later joined Nagaland Peace Centre, Kohima. Hon’ble Home Minister appreciated his noble gesture.

Today, I stand here to pay my last homage to my friend late H. Hesso. He was a peace maker and true friend for so many years. He struggled for helth problem and fased that courageously because he knew where he was going. He walked through the valley of shadow of death but he had not fear because he knew he was not walking alone. God was with him. Psalm: 23 verse 4-1 quote the words of God in the Bible.

May God grant us peace and comfort as we face life without him. Today at this large gathering of friends and relatives coming to pay homage and tribute shows that you are with peace maker stand it brings great comfort that you stand by us.

Thank you. God Bless you.
