Nagaland pediatricians meet

Dimapur, June 28 (MExN): The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Nagaland State Branch held its 6th annual conference cum Continuing Medical Education (CME) on June 25 at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur.  

Dr. Tokuho Chishi, president of IAP Nagaland highlighted the different hardships faced by the people of Nagaland and encouraged the pediatricians to work harder and focus on delivering quality healthcare in a professional manner to the children of the State.  

A press release from branch joint secretary, Dr. Apong Longchar stated that the IAP Nagaland has made positive strides, which was evident with the general secretary announcing at the programme that the IAP Nagaland was awarded the Best Branch of 2016 in the small branch category by the national IAP.  

The highlight of the conference was launching of the newsletter of IAP Nagaland branch by Dr. Santanu Deb, a prominent academician of national repute and currently the head of Department of Pediatrics at Nazareth Hospital, Shillong. He was also the guest speaker and spoke on the new guidelines in the management of pediatrics tuberculosis which is a reemerging disease.  

Many new changes in the current RNTCP guidelines were also discussed, the release said. Other speakers of the CME session were Dr. Chubakumzuk Longchar, Dr. RS Wungramthing, and Dr. Sulanthung Kikon.  

Altogether, 16 pediatricians from all over Nagaland attended the conference.
