Nagaland Pensioner’s Association Tuensang celebrates silver jubilee

Tuensang, March 2 (DIPR): Nagaland Pensioner’s Association Tuensang Unit celebrated its Silver Jubilee on March 1 at CKS Hall Tuensang. Parliamentary Secretary for Fire Service and Renewable Energy, Toyang Changkong graced the occasion as the chief guest, who also released the Jubilee Souvenir.  

In his speech the Parliamentary Secretary encouraged the pensioners that retirement is not the end of the world but is the starting of a new chapter in life to serve one’s own community and the Nagas as a whole. He said that it is also a time to take up new responsibilities for the people. Stating that bookish knowledge alone of today’s generation can never take the society forward, he said that there is a need for wisdom which we gain from one’s life experiences. He further appealed to the pensioners to build the society.  

Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Alem Jongshi, who was the guest of honour, reminded that pensioners should be thankful to God for their old age and maintain a positive attitude to be a guiding force for the youngsters. He said that pensioners are those Government servants who had discharged their services judiciously and expressed his happiness over the attainment of 25 years and reminded the pensioners to keep growing in life.  

President CKS Tuensang, Nokshang Chang delivered a short speech on the background and significance of the Pensioner’s Association. He also encouraged the pensioners that they are the blessed people, who are useful in any society and exhorted them to be united and serve the people.  

Brief report specifically for Tuensang Unit Pensioner’s Association was delivered by Association Secretary, Thsalicho Sangtam. Obituary reference was observed for Association President, S.Ato Chang. Special number was presented by Yongkuk Lashuong Sao Church Tuensang.  

The programme was chaired by L.S Alemba (Rtd. Dy. Director Education) and vote of thanks pronounced by Chairman, Planning Committee T.Y Sangtam.
