
Dimapur, October 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Philosophers Forum held its inaugural meeting via a virtual platform, focusing on the theme ‘Philosophy and Nagaland’ to promote scholarly dialogue and collaboration.
Chaired by Rovikotuo Yhoshü from ICFAI University Nagaland, the session began with a prayer by Dr Vikholienuo Kire of Salesian College Dimapur. Dr Wojanbeni Shitiri Yanthan from Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) outlined the forum’s vision, emphasizing the need to nurture philosophical thinking, strengthen the subject in educational institutions, and build a connected community of scholars.
Under the motto ‘In dialogue, we grow,’ discussions were led by Jelitoli I Swu, Vice Principal of Govt Hr Sec School, Satakha, and Dr Kevezai Tureng, Director of College Development Council at Nagaland University. Swu highlighted the need to revise the philosophy curriculum at the higher secondary level and introduce it at the high school level.
Dr Tureng addressed challenges in the discipline and encouraged innovation through SWAYAM courses, workshops, and promotion of higher education.
The meeting also saw participation from scholars outside the state, including Dr Venusa Tinyi (University of Hyderabad), Dr Karilemla Longchar (Savitribai Phule Pune University), and Dr Temjenkala, who contributed insights for the forum’s future growth. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Imkumnaro Walling of St Joseph University.
