Nagaland planning ‘Battle of Kohima’ 75th anniv in 2019

Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has constituted a committee to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Kohima in 2019.  

Advisor, Tourism and Art & Culture Nagaland, H Khehovi disclosed this while attending 72nd Independence Day celebration in Tuli town on August 17 saying that it would open suitable avenue to create promotion of ‘war tourism’ apart from commemorating the milestone.  

He also informed that the committee was formed to do feasibility study to celebrate the occasion most effectively. Considering the battle a significant aspect of the state’s history, Khehovi maintained that if implemented effectively, the celebration will contribute to the progress of the state’s economy.  

He also noted the tourism sector in Nagaland as a great potential to create employment avenues in multiple sectors by promoting the state as a preferred tourist destination.  

On the occasion, he also unfurled the National Flag and reviewed the parade. Cultural presentations from Watsu Telen Tuli and Tongpang Ruju Cultural Society Tuli were some highlights of the occasion.
