Nagaland Police cautions against financial scams through Facebook

Dimapur, September 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Police has launched an awareness campaign against “new financial scams through Facebook.”

The Nagaland Police in an infographic posted on various social media platform stated that “Cyber criminals are resorting to novel ways to con gullible persons.”

According to the police, the modus operandi of the fraudsters is: “Create fake profiles of Government/police officers or other persons in Facebook; Send friend request as per the friend list of the person impersonated and contact them through Facebook; beseech the friends and relatives to deposit money in e-wallets claiming to be in acute financial crisis.”

“Beware of financial scams. Never transfer money to such claims made through Facebook,” the Nagaland Police cautioned.
