Nagaland Police honours 920 personnel with ASSP medal

Kohima, May 13 (MExN): The medal ceremony of Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak (ASSP) took place at 10th NAP (IR) Battalion, Zhadima in Kohima district on May 12. 

T John Longkumer, DGP Nagaland handed over the medal to the recipients. Altogether, 920 jawans received the award in two categories.

He said that medals may be only a metal but it is a priceless symbol reflecting the hard work and passion of the Nagaland police personnel.

Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak was instituted by Ministry of Home Affairs on July 23, 2018 for the members of Police personnel in Central Armed Police Forces, Central Police Organisations, State/UT police forces and security organizations in consideration for continuous two years of service in Jammu & Kashmir, Left Wing Extremism, North East region with outstanding devotion to duty.

“This brief programme marked the maturity and progress of 10th (IR) and the milestone will go down in the history of the unit,” said Vekhosa, Commandant, 10th NAP (IR) Battalion Zhadima.

He congratulated the officers and men who have rendered dedicated service and urged them to continue to live upto Nagaland Police motto Service, Security & Sacrifice.”

A DIPR report added that Commandant 10th NAP (IR) Zadima, Vekhosa Chakhesang, NPS in his welcome note said that the 10th NAP (IR) was born in 2001 and raised on October 29, 2002 as approved by the State Government with the motto ‘STRIKING TENTH’ and Purple and white as its Unit colour and a Roman numeral ‘X’ as a battalion logo. He said that since the inception of the Unit, the unit has performed various duties both inside and outside the State, one of the notable deployments was at Purulia, West Bengal for Anti- Naxalite Operation, where the unit has shown an outstanding performance in tackling and eliminating the Naxalites.

ADG, Renchamo Kikon; IGP (Adm) Sonia Singh; DIG (IR) Sendongmeren; Sr. SP Kohima, Kevithüto Sophie; Commandant 4th NAP,  Teisovise Metha, and a host of officers were part of the programme.
