Nagaland Police makes several arrests 

•    3 cases registered, 5 arrested in Dimapur with arms 
•    9 cases registered, 553.65 grams of brown sugar seized 
•    6 cases recorded, 7 arrested in extortion cases

Kohima, July 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Police’s fortnightly report related to crime detection, dated June 15 to 30, shows significant crime activities and achievements. 

In an update, the Superintendent of Police SCRB & PRO PHQ said that under the Arms Act, three cases were registered and five arrested in Dimapur where individuals were found to be in possession of firearms in violation of the law. The authorities seized two .32 pistols with magazines, along with twelve live rounds of .32 ammunition. Additionally, one 7.62 pistol with a magazine and seven rounds of 7.62 ammunition were confiscated. Two .22 pistols with magazines were also recovered.

The Nagaland Police also stated that prioritizing ‘War on Drugs’ and making progress to reduce drug activity, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, nine cases were registered during the same period in Dimapur, Mokokchung, Wokha, Zunheboto, Phek and Longleng the authorities recovered 553.65 grams of brown sugar, a form of illicit drug derived from opium, were seized. 

Other substances included 400 tablets of SP Caps and 15 units of Codeine, a narcotic pain-relieving medication. Seventeen individuals were arrested in connection with these NDPS cases, it stated.

The report also documented six cases of extortion. These cases involved the unlawful acquisition of money, recovered items related to these cases included Rs 1500 in cash and one Non-Local ID, which had the name NSCN/GPRN, the police reported. Seven individuals were arrested in connection with the extortion cases in Dimapur, Kohima and Mon including members associated with NSCN-K factions and four civilians, it added.
