DGP encourages officers to “keep their antennas raised” 

Kohima, October 14 (MExN): Nagaland Police Senior Officers’ Conference was held on October 12 at the PHQ conference hall here. Chaired by Rupin Sharma, IPS, ADG (L&O), the conference started with a short speech by LL Doungel, IPS, DGP Nagaland.  

Doungel outlined the challenges that lie ahead for Nagaland Police. Pointing out the uncertainties owing to the dynamic nature of socio-political situations and various other developments in the State, the DGP encouraged the officers to “keep their antennas raised” so that the police is able to anticipate and deal with any eventualities in the future. He expounded on the importance of physical fitness of officers and the personnel and how it has a bearing on the public perception of police in general.  

The DGP also stressed on the necessity for Nagaland Police to embrace and adopt modern policing techniques, encouraged the officers to be sensitive to the issues and problems of men and also to look after their welfare. He also espoused for adoption of scientific men management emphasising on the importance and benefit of police leadership to be innovative, resourceful and enterprising, informed a press release from M. Tungoe, IPS, SP (Crime) & PRO, Nagaland Police.  

Presentations on matters relating to general administration of the department were made by G. Akheto, IPS, ADG (Admn) and PF Zeliang, IPS, IG (Hq). Presentations on administrative problems and issues of Police Commissionerate /DEFs and NAP/IR units were made by Wapang Jamir, IPS, IG (Range) and Bendang Lemtur, IPS, IG (NAP) respectively. There were also presentations on good practices by Joseph Hesso, IPS, SP(Kohima), James Kinghen, NPS, CO 9NAP (IR) and Rothihu Tetseo, NPS, CO10 NAP(IR). A detailed presentation on practices and pitfalls in Nagaland Police and remedies was made by ADG (L&O), which was followed by feedback and discussions on the issues raised and suggestions put forward.
