
DIMAPUR, JULY 6 (MExN):Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and the Nagaland Police have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance SMART policing through specialized training, research, and technology-driven solutions tailored for the Northeast region.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during a virtual ceremony attended by senior officials from both institutions. Representing RRU were Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Pro-VC Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Registrar Dr. Dharmeshkumar D. Prajapati, Dean Dr. Jasbirkaur Thadhani and Director-in-charge, SISSP, Bhawani Singh Rathore. The Nagaland Police was represented by Director General of Police Rupin Sharma, IPS, ADG (Law & Order) Sandeep Tamgadge, IPS, ADG (Adm) R. Kikon, IPS, and IG (Training) R. Tetseo, IPS.
The agreement outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration in areas such as crime investigation, cybersecurity, community policing, and forensics. RRU will provide state-specific, specialized training to Nagaland Police personnel under centrally sponsored schemes, aiming to equip them with modern policing competencies.
Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU, stated that the collaboration will help Nagaland Police officials become SMART officers in fields such as IT, law, languages, and forensic science. He encouraged the Nagaland Police to send IT-enthusiastic officers to RRU for research and development of tech-based policing solutions, assuring institutional support from the university.
“This MoU will play a crucial role in strengthening the talents and experience of Nagaland Police officials. It is a step toward creating a safer and smarter Northeast,” Patel said.
Director General of Police, Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, IPS, welcomed the partnership, terming it a “valuable opportunity” that would significantly enhance the skillsets of police officers in the state. “This agreement will provide much-needed support in building SMART officers capable of handling modern law enforcement challenges,” he said.
The collaboration will also promote joint research initiatives to address emerging security challenges and the integration of technological solutions to improve policing outcomes. Projects focused on the unique security needs of the Northeast are expected to be developed under the partnership.
Rashtriya Raksha University, established by an Act of Parliament in 2020, is a premier national institution dedicated to training, research, and education in national security and law enforcement. The university is committed to strengthening India’s internal security apparatus through academic excellence and innovation.
