
Kohima, July 2 (MExN): Nagaland Police have taken different initiative regarding implementation of New Criminal Laws on July 1, 2024. All the units of Nagaland Police were instructed in advance to conduct training of Investigation Officers, instrumental into implementation of these Laws, stated a DIPR report.
An effort was made to translate the important portion of all three new criminal laws namely, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyan 2023 (BSA) to sensitise public in their own dialect.
The Investigation Officers (IOs) have been asked to conduct rallies and seminars for creating awareness amongst general public, DIPR stated.
Following initiatives were taken by different units of Nagaland Police like seminars on new laws were conducted for police personnel at Police Station level, ward members, students, NGOs and village elders. Pamphlets and documentary materials were distributed. Banners in local dialects were displayed at town areas. It has been ensured to have partnership of all important stakeholders of society, it added.
Bhandari: The Bhandari Police, under the aegis of Wokha Police held one day awareness seminar on the three New Criminal Laws of India for the Police jawans at the Police Station Bhandari, Wokha on July 1.
According to a DIPR report, SDPO Bhandari, Vekato Chishi and UPI Bendangsungba Jamir, OC Police station, Bhandari, enlightened the jawans and said that the three New Criminal Laws will come into effect from July 1, 2024, reshaping the legal landscape in India by replacing the Old British- Era Criminal Laws.
Speaking on the provision of the new laws, the officers emphasised on the need to be aware of the new laws and their practice, and further stressed that understanding the new laws properly will help the Jawans for preparedness and implementation of the laws effectively and to handle any given cases or situation accordingly.
