Nagaland Polls: 3228 registered voters apply for postal ballots

Kohima, February 18 (MExN): Voting through postal ballot by absentee voters in the category of Senior Citizens (above 80 years of age) and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) flagged in the Electoral Roll and Covid-19 suspect or affected persons have been made available during Elections. 

For the forthcoming 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election, 2023 scheduled on February 27, a total of 3228 applications have been received for the category of Senior Citizens and 173 for Persons with Disabilities, stated a press release issued by V Shashank Shekhar, IAS Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland.

Visits of polling officials which consists of two polling officials, one micro-observer, one videographer and security personnel have been started on February 16. 

The Polling teams are visiting those voters at the address mentioned in the application of Form 12D for facilitating the Absentee voters by postal ballot paper. The voting process for this category will be completed one day prior to the actual polling day.

The Postal ballot paper for Absentee voters will be of the same form and language as the postal ballot paper for the voters on election duty, the CEO informed.
