Nagaland Pollution Control Board directs hotels, restaurants & banquet halls 

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) has directed all the hotels, restaurants and banquet halls operating in the State “to obtain Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate" from the the Board under Water Act, 1974 as well as Air Act, 1981.

Further, the above business entities generating waste water should immediately set up Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) for treating the waste water before disposal, informed a notification issued by Dr Kenei Miachieo, IFS, Member Secretary, NPCB. 

“Failure to comply with the board’s directions will attract legal action as per the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986,” it said. 

The direction was in compliance with the National Green Tribunal Order dated September 19, 2019 and subsequent guidelines prepared by Central Pollution Control Board titled, “Mechanism/Guidelines for Control of Pollution and Enforcement of Environment Norms at Individual Establishments and the Area/Cluster of Restaurants/Hotels/ Motels/ Banquets etc,” it added.
