
Kohima, June 20 (MExN): A part of preparations for the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Election to the Kohima Municipal Council, the second and final round of training was conducted for the election officials at Kohima College on June 20.
The training session equipped the Presiding Officers, First Polling Officers, and Second Polling Officers with the necessary skills and knowledge, and covered various aspects of the election process, including voting procedures, handling of ballot box, and ensuring the smooth conduct of the polls.
The resource persons emphasized the importance of adhering to election guidelines to maintain the integrity and transparency of the voting process. The participants were provided with detailed instructions and hands-on demonstrations to handle potential challenges during the election day.
Further, a Facilitation Centre will be set up on June 21 and 24 from 11:00 am till 3:30 pm at DC Office Kohima, Establishment Branch- Ground Floor.
Tseminyu: A District Level Coordination Committee meeting of Tseminyu was held at DB’s court, Tseminyu on June 20.
Additional Deputy Commissioner & ARO Tseminyu, Longasen Lotha has briefed on the election Model Code of Conduct, to conduct free and fair election in the district. He also said that without ID card, and other documents approved by the State Election Commission, voters can't cast their votes, and ensure the efficient and smooth conduct of election process.
During the meeting DBs were detailed and attached to various sectors magistrates. Ruokuo The meeting was attended by members of the district level coordination committee, all sectors magistrates/commanders, and all intending candidates under Tseminyu Town Council, all concerned political parties and GBs of Tseminyu.
The meeting was chaired by the ADC, Tseminyu, Longasen Lotha.
Wokha: Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS held a meeting with the Sector Magistrates/Commanders, Zonal Magistrates/Officers of the Urban Local Bodies election at DC conference hall, Wokha on June 20.
Deputy Commissioner, while addressing the meeting, highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the officers for the upcoming ULB election. On distribution of Voters Information Slips (VIS), he said the purpose of VIS is to identify and to know the serial number in the electoral roll and does not provide the authority to caste vote and added that a voter must produce one of the eight (8) identification cards authorised by the State Election Commission. He also requested the Sector Magistrates and Officers to ensure that VIS are to be given to the concerned voters only and not to any other individual. VIS distribution will be done on June 21 and 22 in their respective polling stations.
District Economics & Statistics Office has been designated as the dispatch and receiving centre, where dispatch for Bhandari will be done on 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM for Wokha on June 25. During the meeting, the DC also briefed the officials about the silent period protocol which will come in to effect from 4:00 PM of June 24.
Returning Officer & ADC, Wokha, K. Furhesie Nyuwi informed that, submission of Form 13 for polling personnel’s drafted for election duty is till 24th June 2024 and urged all to do the needful accordingly.
Superintendent of Police, Wokha, Aotula T Imchen, IPS briefed on the pre-poll arrangement and security measures adopted and appealed all to extend co-operation for the smooth, peaceful and fair conduct of the ULB election.
Peren: Peren District will conduct the second and final phase of training for the presiding and polling officers of ULB Election 2024 at Town hall, Peren on June 21 at 11.00 am.
Registration will start at 10.30.am. Deputy Commissioner, Peren Vineet Kumar has informed and directed to all the concerned to attend the training positively.
Zunheboto: Additional Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, Zunheboto Keyirangding Hegui, has informed the general public that, consequent upon State Election Commission publication of election programme for ULBs and in pursuance with the conduct of ULB Election 2024 at Zunheboto district, that, entry of private vehicle from Police Point (central) near Axis Bank will be strictly prohibited, for smooth conduct of the ULB Election, 2024, from June 24 to 26.
No parking beyond the Police Point towards DC Office will be available for the said days. Therefore, all private vehicles owners are directed to adhere to this order and Officer In-charge Traffic Police is requested to regulate the traffic accordingly.
