Nagaland prepares for second round of IPPI

Nagaland1Kohima, February 19 (MExN): Nagaland, along with other states in India will held second round of Intensive Pulse Polio on Sunday, February 21. The Department of Health & Family Welfare is all geared up to administer Polio drops to over 2,30,804 eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the state in 2,308 Polio Booths to be manned by 9,232 vaccinators and 462 supervisors along with vaccines and other logistics. Special focus will be given to migrant population with an aim to prevent importation of Polio cases.   Dr. Sukhato A Sema, Principal Director Directorate of Health & Family Welfare in a press release stated that the total number of children covered during the 1st Round IPPI which was held on January 17, 2016 was 2,21,456.  

While thanking everyone for their past cooperation, the 'department appeals all sections of the people, Agencies (government and non government, including the security forces and police), organizations, churches and community leaders and especially parents of children below 5 years to come forward and ensure that all eligible children receive the “Two Drops of Life” (Polio Drops) on February 21.   For any further information, contact nearest Health Centre or the chief Medical Officer/District Programme Officer (RCH & UIP) of your district.
