Kohima, October 30 (MExN): Nagaland Minister G. Kaito Aye has made a personal appeal to the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on IAS induction to reconsider the ongoing pen-down strike, highlighting its adverse impact on public services and development programs across the State.
In a letter addressed to the JCC, the minister noted that the strike has disrupted the functioning of public offices and delayed the implementation of key programmess and schemes, including externally aided initiatives that are time-sensitive and aimed at improving infrastructure, connectivity, and livelihoods.
“Every administrative process today is guided by established procedures, documentation, and time-bound regulations,” the minister wrote, urging the associations to reflect on the far-reaching implications of the strike, particularly on matters that directly affect public service and development.
While acknowledging that service-related and policy issues are important, he stressed that such matters are best resolved through open and constructive dialogue rather than the disruption of public offices.
“As a senior legislator and representative of the people, I make this personal appeal: Let us not drift into a situation where public offices and services are overshadowed by the course of agitation,” he wrote, calling on the JCC to put the pen-down strike on hold and resolve the issue through dialogue.
The minister concluded by emphasising the need for collaboration to ensure the progress of the State is not hindered and that governance continues smoothly for the benefit of the people.
The JCC is comprised of the Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees’ Association (CANSSEA), Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Service Association (FONSESA), Nagaland Finance & Accounts Services Association (NF&ASA), Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association (NIDA), and Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA).
