Nagaland: Ration card allowed as identity proof for COVID-19 vax

Kohima, June 17 (MExN): Beneficiaries in Nagaland have been informed that ration card with photo details like name, gender, photos and age (where year of birth can be estimated) will be permitted for use as identity proof to avail COVID-19 Vaccination in any COVID-19 Vaccination Centre (CVC).

In a notification to the district Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), State Immunization Officer (UIP) Dr Ritu Thutt stated that this has been done to improve access to BPL category beneficiaries, without other permitted documents.

In this regard, Dr Thurr requested the CMOs to pass necessary instructions to all concerned staff in the districts.

Meanwhile, another notification from SIO informed that certain groups of people will be allowed to receive 2nd dose of Covishield Vaccine prior to the prescribed time interval (84 days) under revised SOPs.

The groups include students who have to undertake foreign travel for the purposes of education or those taking up jobs abroad and athletes, sportspersons and accompanying staff of Indian contingent attending International Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo.

The 2nd dose can be availed only at Districts Hospitals and the prescribed period is ‘after 28 days but before 84 days’, the notification said, further directing districts officials to check whether sufficient period (28 days) has elapsed from the 1st first dose.

Other concerns like admission offers or proof of returning to institution for continuing education, interview calls for a job or offer letters for taking up employment and nomination to participate in the Tokyo Olympic games should be taken into consideration, it added.
