Shillong, November 21 (MExN): The North Eastern Council (NEC) has released over Rs 3.93 crore for four developmental projects in Nagaland under the Scheme of NEC (SONEC) for October 2025.
The fund allocation is aimed at accelerating growth and infrastructure development in the state, stated a DIPR report.
The projects and their allocated amounts are as follows: Setting up of two units of piglet production farm in Nihoto and Vidima villages, Dimapur: Rs 1.31 crore; Construction of a Working Women Hostel at Kohima: Rs 1.50 crore; Infrastructure Development at Kohima Orphanage Home: Rs 90.12 lakh; Conservation and propagation of indigenous fodder for sustainable livestock development: Rs 22.25 lakh.
The total amount released for Nagaland stands at Rs 3,93,79,000, it added.
A model dairy farm project in Nagaland, completed in October 2025, has led to the production of an estimated 37.5 tonnes of liquid milk in a single lactation cycle. The 'Setting up of Model Dairy Farm in Nagaland' project was implemented at a total cost of Rs 3.64 crore.
Sanctioned on April 18, 2017, and completed on October 23, 2025, the initiative has established six model dairy units and introduced 60 milch cows. The project has created direct employment for three entrepreneurs and indirect employment for six unskilled workers.
NEC conducted an on-site inspection of an ongoing road project in Nagaland on October 31, 2025, to ensure quality and timely completion. The project for the 'Up-gradation of Road from Khonoma village to NH 29 via Dzudza River' is 9.15 km long and is being implemented under the NESIDS (Roads) Scheme at a cost of Rs 26.46 crore. The inspection is part of the Council's proactive approach to monitor project execution and ensure optimal utilisation of resources.
In addition to this, the council has also approved the project for the ‘Up-gradation of Road from Lampong Sheanghah to Nyasa Village via Longphoh, Shangnyu, Mon District’ on Ocotber 31, 2025, under NESIDS (Roads) Scheme with the cost of the project set at Rs 23.09 crore.
