Nagaland records highest single day surge in COVID cases

22 new cases on June 4, State tally rises to 80

 

DIMAPUR, JUNE 4 (MExN): Nagaland registered the highest number of new COVID-19 cases today with 22 new cases. The total active cases in the State now stand at 80 as of June 4. 


“All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals. Further, active surveillance is going on to prevent further spreading of the infection,” Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha said today during the daily briefing. 


Till date, a total of 3638 samples have been tested. Results of 2130 samples have been received out of which 80 are positive. The results for 1508 samples are awaited. Through the Truenat testing machine so far a total of 101 samples have been tested and all are negative. Presently, a total of 4642 persons are under facility quarantine. 


The Health Department informed that of the 80 active cases, 42 are from Dimapur, 17 are from Kohima, 1 is from Peren and 5 are from Tuensang. (See Table)


An update from the DIPR meanwhile informed that 178 stranded citizens arrived in Nagaland on June 4. Of this, 10 arrived from Kolkata by air; 107 from New Delhi, Dibrugarh and Jorhat by train; 18 from Jaipur, 37 from Raipur, Chhattisgarh by bus and 6 from Guwahati by private cars.
