Nagaland reports highest single day spike of 138 COVID-19 cases

Nagaland on Saturday reported its highest single-day spike of 138 COVID-19 cases, taking the total to 1831 in the state.

 “The positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres,” informed an update from the State’s Principal Secretary for Home, Abhijit Sinha.

Active surveillance and contact tracing is also in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection, Sinha added.

Out of the 1,831 positive cases, the total active cases are 1,183 and there are 4 deaths. As per the severity of symptoms, 1,181 active cases are asymptomatic, 1 active case is mild and 1 active case is with oxygen.

The total number of recovered cases as of 3:00 pm on August 1 stood at 640, as per the daily bulletin issued by the Health department’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme. The bulletin indicated that two active cases have ‘migrated’ and was not included in the state’s tally of active cases.
