Nagaland reports more recoveries than new COVID cases for tenth day

Single-day recoveries outnumbered new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland for the tenth consecutive day as 102 people were cured of the disease and 28 tested positive for the infection on Monday.

The state’s recovery rate now stands at 64.51%.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom confirmed the news on Twitter and said the new cases have been detected out of 587 samples tested.

The minister informed that out of the new cases, 24 cases have been detected in Kohima, 2 have been detected in Dimapur, and 1 each case has been detected in Longleng and Zunheboto districts.

Out of the new recoveries, 85 were from Dimapur and 17 from Kohima. 

The fresh infections have pushed the state’s COVID-19 tally to 3,714.

According to the state health department’s latest COVID-19 update, out of the total positive cases registered in Nagaland, 1,609 are armed forces personnel (43%), 1,213 are returnees/travellers (33%), 646 are traced contacts (17%) and 246 are frontline workers (7%).

A total of 2,396 patients have recovered from the disease and Nagaland currently has 1,301 COVID-19 active cases.
As per the severity of symptoms, 1,280 active cases are asymptomatic, 20 active cases are mild and 1 active case is moderate, the health department informed.

“Active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection,” it added.

The disease has claimed the lives of 8 persons while “one death is COVID-19 positive but not due to COVID-19.”
8 other positive cases have migrated from the state.

District wise cases
In Dimapur, out of 672 active cases—the highest among the district, 20 were categorized as ‘mild’ symptomatic while 1 is ‘moderate’ symptomatic. The rest of the active cases (651) were said to be asymptomatic.

The active cases in all other districts were all classified as ‘asymptomatic.’

Kohima had 476 such cases, Mon district had 74, while Zunheboto had 61 such active cases. 

As per the bulletin issued by the Health and Family Welfare, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, as of 3:00 pm on August 24, Tuensang had 7 active but asymptomatic cases, Wokha had 4, Mokokchung had 3, Longleng had 2 and Kiphire and Peren districts had one each. 

Phek district has zero active cases with the recovery of all 31 previously positive cases.
