Nagaland: Rio led NDPP-BJP alliance stakes claim to form govt

Submits list of 32 elected candidates to Acharya

The future of political landscape in Nagaland become clearer on March 5 with Neiphiu Rio led NDPP-BJP alliance meeting Nagaland Governor PB Acharya  to stake claim to form the government.  

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and its ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have 30 elected representatives on its own.  

However, the alliance was boosted by the joining of newly elected Janata Dal (United) legislator G Kaito Aye and newly elected Independent legislator Tongpang Ozukum, taking the total figure passed the halfway mark to 32.  

According to a press release issued by the Office of NDPP-BJP Chief Ministerial Candidate, Rio handed over the letters of support from the BJP party as well as from JD (U) and Independent legislators.  

The list of 32 elected candidates was also submitted to the Governor.  

BJP National General Secretary, Ram Madhav as well as both the legislators were present during the submission.  

They were accompanied by Chingwang Konyak, President NDPP; Visasolie Lhongou, President BJP Nagaland State Unit; V. Abu Metha, Secretary General NDPP; and Rusemtong Longkumer, General Secretary, NDPP.
