Nagaland: Rs 113 crore sanctioned for Kohima Smart City

A total of Rs 113 crore has been sanctioned for Kohima Smart City. Out of this amount, Rs 2 crore was sanctioned in advance for preparation of the Smart City proposal, while Rs 107 crore was sanctioned as part payment of project funds for the 1st year for the development of Kohima as a Smart City.  

The Minister of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Metsubo Jamir disclosed this in reply to a question raised by MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro on the concluding day of the 2nd session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on September 20.

  Another Rs 2 crore has been allotted as part payment for Administrative & Office expenses for the 1st year while the State’s matching share against A&OE for implementation of Kohima Smart City Mission was also Rs 2 crore, he added.  

The Minister also informed that the first installment was released by the Government of India in April 2017 where Rs 107 crore was sanctioned as part payment of project funds for the 1st year. The amount was released by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, GoI on April 20, 2017.  

On the implementation and work progress of the mission so far, the Minister replied that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for certain projects under the Mission is under submission for technical approval.  

"The project will be implemented after the appointment of Project Management Consultant (PMC). The selection of PMC for Kohima Smart City Mission is in the final stage," he stated.  

Asked if there is any master plan the project, the Minister replied that a draft master plan f has been prepared which will be finalised and approved in consultation with the PMC.
