Kohima, September 26 (MExN): One day orientation programme on Mission Antyodaya, People’s Plan Campaign on GPDP and Swachhata Hi Seva was held with line departments, Project Directors and BDOs at Rural Development Conference Hall on September 26.
Delivering an introduction to the campaign, secretary, RD, Neposo Theluo said that although Nagaland does not follow Panchayati Raj system, the ministry has however mandated that every village should maintain Gram Panchayat Development Plan alongside Mission Antyodaya.
He stated that the State has been directed to conduct Mission Antyodaya Baseline Survey and through this the critical gap of each and every village will be known, what the village requires in terms of development, health, education etc. He urged all to give proper instruction to the village level functionaries and all called upon active participation of all the line departments to make the campaign a success.
Speaking on the recently launched ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, joint secretary to the Government of Nagaland & Convenor, Inter Departmental Committee on ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, Elizabeth Ngully stated this campaign is in response to the call made by the Prime Minister of India, to make India free from single use plastic.
Maintaining that all government departments are involved in this exercise, she stressed on the need to create massive awareness and involve every villagers so as to educate them on the menace of plastic waste.
“This is a continuous exercise, we need to educate ourselves and sensitize all to discourage the use of plastic,” she stated while also urging all citizens to participate and involve in this campaign to make Nagaland a plastic-free State.
Presenting an overview of People's Plan Campaign (PPC) on GPDP 2020-2021, State Resource Person, Dr. Juthsutho Phoji, Sr. Lecture SIRD informed that Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Ministry of Rural Development, will jointly launch PPC and during the campaign period, comprehensive GPDP is to be prepared by every panchayat in convergence with line departments and flagship schemes such as MGNREGA, NRLM, PMAY (G), Rurban and SAGY covering 29 subjects of the XI Schedule.
The orientation programme also covered topics on Solid Waste Management and GPDP with focus on achieving Convergence conducted by RDO, John Wesley Magh, Mission Antyodaya by SPM (MIS), NSRLM, Y. Renvungo Murry. Rural Development Officer, Vilopi Sakhrie presented a demonstration on GPDP Portal and Mission Antyodaya App.
The orientation programme concluded with closing remark from the chairman, K. Neibou Sekhose, joint director, RD.
