Kohima, December 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Scholarship Nodal Cell (NSNC) was launched on December 1, 2025, at the Directorate of Higher Education, Kohima, by Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, in what the department described as an initiative aimed at ensuring effective implementation and management of scholarship programmes.
According to the department, the NSNC has been established as a centralised authority for all scholarship schemes in the state, including State, Central Sector, and Centrally Sponsored programmes.
The initiative stems from a Cabinet decision on June 12, 2019, and was reaffirmed during a consultative meeting with the Chief Secretary on September 10, 2025.
The Nodal Cell comprises nominated officials from all scholarship-implementing departments, with a designated Nodal Officer from the Directorate of Higher Education serving as in-charge.
The mandates include verification and validation of student eligibility, effective implementation and management of scholarships, timely fund disbursement, dissemination of information to students and stakeholders, and centralised grievance redressal.
The Department of Higher Education stated that the NSNC aims to enhance inter-departmental coordination, improve accessibility of scholarships, and build public trust in scholarship administration, making the system more student-centric and efficient.
