Students from Nagaland who participated at the Independence Day celebration in Red Fort.
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 18 (MExN): Two schools from Nagaland were selected to attend the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in New Delhi, representing the Prime Minister's Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) initiative. Launched by the Government of India on September 7, 2022, PM SHRI aims to establish over 14,500 exemplary schools across the country, showcasing the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and fostering holistic, well-rounded individuals with key 21st-century skills.
Nagaland has 27 government schools selected under the PM SHRI scheme. Two of these schools, PM SHRI GHS Thahekhu and PM SHRI GMS Showuba Old, were invited as special guests to the Independence Day event. Two students and two teachers from these schools, along with an official from the State Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha, represented Nagaland at the prestigious celebration.
During their visit, the participants explored significant national landmarks, including India Gate and the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. They also engaged in an interactive session with key figures from the Ministry of Education, including the Education Minister, the Minister of State for Education, and senior officials from the Department of School Education and Literacy. Notably, a student from Nagaland was chosen to felicitate the Education Minister during the event.
