Kohima, March 12 (MExN): The growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance and public administration was highlighted by Professor Dr Anuja Pandey from the All India Management Association on March 11. She was speaking at a two-day workshop on AI Implementation for Data Platforms and Public Data, held under the Nagaland Science Mission at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, stated a DIPR report.
Addressing officers from more than 40 government departments on the first day, Prof Pandey emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among departments to prepare the state for AI-driven transformation. She said the initiative aims to assess Nagaland’s readiness for AI and machine learning adoption and to develop a roadmap for AI implementation in the state over the next 24 months.
Prof Pandey noted that the success of AI systems largely depends on the quality and availability of data collected by government departments and encouraged officials to actively participate and share insights during the workshop.
She also observed that several states such as Telangana, Odisha, Karnataka and Gujarat have made progress in developing AI policy frameworks, while northeastern states are still at an early stage of implementation.
Meanwhile, Dr Prof Saurabh Agarwal, Adjunct Faculty of AIMA, served as the resource person on the first day of the workshop. Kekuneil Ltu, Deputy Mission Director, Nagaland Science Mission, Department of S&T gave the introductory remark.
