Nagaland sees third highest single-day spike, count reaches 451

Nagaland recorded a total of 36 new cases of COVID-19 in the State on June 29, while 4 more patients tested negative in their second test. 


 This is the third highest single-day spike in the state. The highest rise was recorded on June 22 when 69 new cases were detected followed by 50 on June 23. 


As of June 29, the State had 451 total positive cases, 283 active cases and 168 recoveries, according to data released by the Nagaland Department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW). 


The recovery rate accordingly stood at 37% on Monday.


Of the new cases, 18 were reported from Jakhama Army Hospital, 17 from Tuensang quarantine centre (QC) while one was from Peren QC. Three recoveries were reported in Dimapur while Kohima reported one.


Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha meanwhile informed during the daily briefing on COVID-19 that all the active cases are asymptomatic and receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals.

 

Highest number of cases in Dimapur
As per the daily Bulletin issued by the H&FW, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, Dimapur district has the highest number of positive cases with 183 cases, making up 42% of the total.


Kohima district has 112 cases with almost 26% while Peren has the third highest number of cases with 89 (20%).


Tuensang district saw a spike in positive cases with 17 cases added to its present tally, taking the total to 25. Mon has 38 cases in total while Zunheboto and Phek districts reported 3 and 1 case respectively.


However, in terms of active cases, Kohima led the tally with 86, followed by 83 in Peren and 52 in Dimapur.  


It was meanwhile reported that the Truenat test for the taxi driver from Dimapur who transported returnees to Mokokchung, returned negative on Monday.
