Nagaland shines at North East Strongmen championship 2023

Two Naga youth won Gold medal at the North East Strongmen & Women Championship 2023 held at Guwahati on December 10 last.

This championship was organized by Raw Group in association with Assam Strongman & Amateur Power Sports Association under Indian Strongman Sports Federation.

Kevidi Linyii and Zhopao Movi, both representing Nagaland Strongman & Fitness Association (NSFA), won Gold medal in 110+ kg and 80 kgs category respectively.

Zhopao Movi also won overall champion title.

Movi bagged Gold in 80 kg category after finishing farmer walk in 08. 66 sec and tire flip in 55 sec.

Linyii secured Gold in 110+ kg category with 1.02 sec. record in tire flip, 17.18 sec in farmer walk and 06.sec in plate hold.
The duo Gold medalists expressed gratitude to NSFA for their support and enable them to compete at the Northeast strongman Championship.

NSFA felicitated them today in a felicitation programme held at Hotel Crescent International, Kohima.

“We feel proud of them,” said NSFA president Keduovilie Zumu and commended their hard work and dedication and bringing laurels to the state.

Zumu said that NSFA was formed in 2016 to promote fitness sports in the state.

Since 2016, we have been organizing fitness and power lifting competition, he said adding that NSFA has produced 7 northeast and 4 national medalists till date.

We are taking the sports of strongman and fitness with seriousness, Zumu said.

He also informed that the Association is planning to give special attention to powerlifting discipline as the same is now featured in Commonwealth Games.

Zumu informed that there is job opportunity for power lifters in central services.

Thanking the Youth Resources & Sports department for their support in the recently concluded 6th edition of International Hornbill Strongman and Crossfit Competition 2023, NSFA president was optimistic that the department will give importance to promote fitness sports in Nagaland.
