Nagaland shooters Kera, Hibo shine at Jakarta championship

Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): Nagaland Benchrest Shooting Club members Dr Kerheho Kera and Kevipozu Hibo have bolstered their contention for India selection ahead of the 2027 World Championship following a solid outing at the Red & White International Shooting Championship 2026.

The tournament was hosted by the Indonesian Shooting Association, PB PERBAKIN (ISHA), at the Senayan Shooting Range from September 3 to 6.

Kera and Hibo were part of a four-member Indian contingent that included Divyana Vij and Shubhanshi Verma. Competing against nearly 500 shooters from across the globe, the Indian squad finished 12th in the overall team standings.

In the individual rankings, Dr Kera secured the 33rd position, while Hibo finished 43rd in a fiercely competitive field.

The performance serves as vital international exposure ahead of the 2027 World Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Federation (WRABF) World Championship, scheduled to take place in South Africa from August 1 to 12, 2027.

Congratulating the duo, Rimfire & Air Rifles Benchrest Shooting Association of India (RABSAI) General Secretary Hina Vij lauded their discipline, dedication, and consistent form. Vij expressed confidence that both shooters would continue to bring laurels to their club, the state of Nagaland, and the country.

The national association further urged the shooters to intensify their training, hone technical precision, and maintain momentum as they gear up for the quadrennial world meet next year.
