Nagaland Singing Ambassadors perform concert in Mon

Mon, June 18 (DIPR): The Nagaland Singing Ambassadors enchanted the audience of Mon with their melodious numbers at council hall Mon on June 17. The concert was organized and sponsored by the Mission ‘I Love My Mon Town’ (ILMMT) in aid of landslide victims of Mon town. This was the first of its kind in the district with good response from the mass.  

It may be mentioned here that Tanlao ward and Techhan ward of Mon town was badly affected by landslide and land sinking in 2015 and 2016 monsoon leaving many individuals and families homeless. Edith Douglas School building was also severely affected by the land sinking compelling to shift urgently in the middle of the academic session. Altogether 83 families were severely affected at Tanlao ward in 2015. Many families have also evacuated their homes due to land sinking with multiple landslides. The Central team from Delhi also visited this ward in 2015.   Recently in 2016 at Techahan ward 83 families were rendered homeless while around 150 families were badly affected. A Government School building was also affected by the land sinking. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority along with District level Disaster Management Authority have also conducted emergency relief camp in the ward and distributed emergency relief fund to the landslide victims. The concert was organized as a heartfelt concern and with deepest sympathy by the Mission ILMMT to support and assist the homeless landslide victims of Mon town.
