Nagaland: SLC meeting on People’s Plan Campaign held

Kohima, September 27 (MExN): The State Level Committee (SLC) meeting on People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) for preparation of Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP) was held on September 20 at Secretariat conference hall under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner, Nagaland Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS. 

The campaign for the current year will be rolled out as ‘Sabki Yojana Sabki Vikas’ from October 2 to January 31, 2024, a press release received here stated. 

In his address, Imchen reiterated the vision of the ministry of Panchayati Raj to make PPC a participatory process involving all the line departments in the formulation, planning and implementation of gram panchayat/village plans and to upload the status in the GPDP portal. The exercise is mainly to facilitate better co-ordination between departments and to avoid duplication of schemes which is vital to convergence at the ground level.

The departments were advised to upload activities to be taken up during next Financial Year based on atleast three themes from the notified 9 themes of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Towards this, Imchen called for active participation of all the line departments in the special Gram Sabha meetings where sensitization of the village functionaries can be done for preparation of GPDP. 

Commissioner & Secretary, RD, Neposo Theluo, IAS, in a powerpoint presentation highlighted the details and progress of GPDP since its take off in 2018 and pointed out the objectives, activities and action point of the campaign. He mentioned that with the exemption of PR system in the State, the department of Rural Development has been designated as the nodal department to monitor the planning and progress of GPDP implementation.

Theluo also informed that during the campaign, a structured Gram Sabha meeting will be held in every Gram Sabhas/Villages for preparation of GPDP (2024-25) as per the tentative State Calendar for PPC. Further, the involved line departments were requested to appoint Nodal Officers at the State, district and block level and frontline workers to monitor the preparation and implementation of GPDP.
