Nagaland Social Welfare Dept launches online competition on substance abuse prevention

In commemoration of the upcoming International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland, today launched ‘Online competition on substance abuse prevention.’

It was launched by Tosheli Zhimomi, Director, Department of  Social Welfare in the presence of Miss North East 2023 Kenei Ritse, Miss Nagaland 2023 Neiketuno Sechii and Miss Nagaland 2022 Hikali Achumi.

Addressing the launching programme at the conference of the Directorate of Social Welfare, Zhimomi  said that this online competition,  in commemoration of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, comprises 'Creative Writing, Poster Making and Reel Making' targeting the age group of 13-25 years who are the most vulnerable age group to the menace of substance abuse.

Zhimomi was hopeful that many young people will come forward to participate in this competition and their creative writings and critical thinking will help in creating awareness to the general masses on the damage cause by substance abuse.

Highlighting the competition guidelines, Miss Nagaland 2022 Hikali Achumi informed that Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 have been set aside as prize money for first, second and third position respectively in each category. There will also be five consolation prize of Rs 500 in each category. The competition is for age group of 13-25 only for the youths of Nagaland.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Wango Langsym, Deputy Director, Department of Social Welfare.

Creative writing competition
The theme for this competition is “How will you promote drug abuse prevention amongst the youth in the youth in your state.”

Last date for submission is July 7 and result will be declared on July 9. One can submit an original piece creating writing in the form of essay, short story and poem to slcnap@gmail.com or 7005290947.

Reel Making Competition
The reel should be original, informative, engaging and appropriate for all audiences. Length: 15- 30 secs.

The topic for this competition includes; Risks of drug abuse, Prevention of drug abuse and Promotion of healthy lifestyle.

Poster making competition
The theme for this competition is “Drug – free lives; Building a healthier future together.”

Poster must be A3 Size (11.7X16.5 inches. All mediums accepted (Markers, paint, digital art etc.).

Final submission must be in digital format (Scanned/photographed).
