Dimapur District Anglers’ Association meeting Dimapur, November 11 (MExN): In view of the formation of Dimapur District Anglers’ Association (DDAA), a general body meeting of all the anglers under Dimapur district has been convened on Monday, November 14, 2:00 pm at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur. According to a press release, the DDAA Constitution and Logo will be presented and approved during the meeting. All concerned anglers are informed to attend the meeting positively. Whuorie enters semis of International tournament Dimapur, November 11 (MExN): Edward Kenisezotuo Whuorie competing in an International Tennis tournament in Bhutan has entered the semifinals in the Men's singles event. He will play the finals on November 12 at Timphu. Meanwhile, reigning Tennis champion of the Niathu Sports Festival Tennis, 2016, Vilasier Khate, playing in the North East Tennis Tournament at Imphal has entered the semifinals of the Men’s singles event. He also booked a berth in the quarterfinals along with his partner Metba Phom in Men’s Doubles. 3rd Peren Inter Departmental Badminton Tourney held Peren, November 11 (DIPR): The 3rd Peren District Inter Departmental Badminton Tournament was held on November 10 and 11 at Indoor Stadium, Jalukie Town with Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Zarenthung Ezung as the Chief Guest. Speaking at the inaugural function, the DC maintained that sports is an essential component of human resource development and pointed to the need for the society to provide opportunities for youngster to develop their sporting skills which would equip them with the right mindset and values for a world of continuous and dynamic change. Further, DC also said that the primary objective of conducting inter departmental badminton tournament is to provide a platform where the officers and the staff of different department get to mingle and interact with one another. Guest of honour for the closing function was Superintendent of Police, Peren, V. John who gave away the cash prizes along with citation to the winners, runners-up and all the participants. Anozo Viswentso (Jail) emerged winner in the Men’s Single category while Chungkhokai Singson (SDEO) bagged as Runner’s up. Nengneihoi Singson and Aziliu bagged 1st and 2nd position respectively in the Women’s Single category. Competitors from 20 Department participated in the tournament. A total of 87 players comprised of 64 men’s and 23 women’s took part in the tournament.
