SYO 48th general session underway
Kohima, December 8 (MExN): The 48th general session of Sakraba Youth Organisation (SYO) got underway on December 7 at Sakraba village in Phek district.
Chuba Ozukum, Consultant, Department of Justice and Law, Government of Nagaland graced the opening ceremony as inaugural guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ozukum stated that sports is gaining popularity in the present society.
Stating many prominent sports personalities also rose from rural and humble beginnings, he called upon the youth to be determined to achieve great in their life.
Be hard working and aim high, he added.
Ozukum also challenged the villagers to raise a leader from the village to have a representative at the state legislative assembly to access various developmental activities.
He underlined the need for preservation and promotion of indigenous sports.
SYO President Nupoyi D Vadeo delivered welcome address while folk dance was performed by Sunday School Students of Sakraba Baptist Church (SBC).
During the three-day events, four Khels- Lohe, Hesuh, Basa ‘A’ and Basa ‘B’ will be competing in various sports disciplines.
The tournament will continue till December 10.
