Kevilekho Zumvu on top at State Chess Premier   Our Correspondent Kohima | June 16 Kevilekho Zumvu is atop the points table with 6.5 points after Round 9 in the ongoing 15th edition of Nagaland State ‘A’ Chess Premier 2016 being held at Red Cross Society Conference Hall, Kohima. He is closely followed by Melesai Dawhuo at 6 points while Thepfuchalie Mere and Visanyuzo Kuotsu are tied at 5.5 points each. The others are: Ketholelie Nisa (5), Sukhavi Achumi (5), Mughaho Awomi (5), Sede Nagi (4.5), Neikehiezo Zinyu (4), Viseyie Yano (4), Tokuho Awomi (4) Setso Peseyie (4), Hekugha Heka Yeptho (3.5), Bovito Yeputho (3.5), Helie Rupreo (3) and Tovi Yeps (3), Vekukho Soho (2.5), Kughaho Kiho (2.5), and Toikhu Awomi (1). The valedictory function will take place on June 17 at 2:30 PM. Rato Pusa, Joint Director Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports will be the guest of honour on the occasion.   Kiyeho Memorial Cricket Trophy gets underway   Morung Express News Dimapur |June 16   The 1st Kiyeho Memorial Cricket Trophy began on Thursday at DDSC Stadium with Ghukhuyi Zhimo, Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control as chief guest. Speaking at the programme, Er. Ghukhuyi lauded the Kuhoxu Village Youth for organizing the trophy in memory of Late Kiyeho, a well-known social worker. He said sports is an integral part of life and that it provides a change from the monotony of everyday life. “Through sports we should learn how to maintain mental and physical balance by imbibing positive qualities in the right spirit,” he said. Er. Ghukhuyi also urged the players to maintain sportsmanlike spirit and respect authorities in the playfield. Head GB, Tokishe Zhimo highlighted a brief history of Late Kiyeho as a sincere social worker. The inaugural programme was attended by the participating teams, Kuhoxu village leaders, well wishers and sports lovers.   Summer Cup Cricket Tourney re-scheduled   Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): Owing to ground maintenance, the 7th Summer Cup Cricket Tournament 2016 which was set to get underway on June 19 has been re-scheduled to June 26 at Balijan (A) Ground, Karbi Anglong (Assam).  According to a press release from the host, Balijan Youth Club, the tournament is being held for the 7th time to promote upcoming talents among youth and strengthen the good relations with the neighbouring state. In this connection, the youth club has asked teams willing to participate to avail of the forms from: System Solution, Near South Indian Bank, Dimapur; City Ford, 3rd mile, Dimapur; Kiran Sports, Dimapur; United Sports, Dimapur; Ranglal Shop, Balijan (A), Near Forest gate, Karbi Anglong. For further queries, one may contact 8575624103, 9402238805, 9402870530.   Youth Olympiad for Dmp colleges from today   Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): The Young Indians Nagaland Chapter in conjunction with Assam Rifles will be conducting Youth Olympiad for colleges of Dimapur and its adjoining areas on June 17 and 18 at the State Stadium, Dimapur. According to a press release from Kvulo Lorin, Yuva Chair, YI Nagaland Chapter, the competition is an athletic meet of colleges and will provide a platform for the youth to showcase their sporting talents. The athletic meet include track and field events for both boys and girls. Altogether, 15 colleges from Dimapur and adjoining areas have confirmed their participation in the event. The Young Indians Nagaland Chapter and Assam Rifles had on several occasions joined hands in the past to promote sports and adventure activities among youths of Nagaland, the release informed.  Mmhonlumo Kikon, Parliamentary Secretary for Labor, Employment and Skill Development, Border Affairs will be the chief guest at the valedictory event on June 18 at 2:30pm. Brig Brijesh Dhiman, Cdr 6 Sector, Assam Rifles will also grace the occasion.
