State Programme Officer, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Dr Vezokholu Theyo, department officials and TB champions at the state level capacity building workshop cum launch of State Network for TB Survivors at Kohima on January 19.

KOHIMA, JANUARY 19 (MExN): The National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) in collaboration with #Touched by TB #REACH #USAID Project conducted state level capacity building workshop cum launch of State Network for TB Survivors at Kohima on January 18 and 19.
A press release issued by State Programme Officer (NTEP), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Dr Vezokholu Theyo informed that at the launching, the welcome address and workshop objectives were delivered by Dr Raghavan Gopa Kumar, National Coordinator, New Delhi. He highlighted that the role of TB champions is to make people aware about TB and the need for seeking care and support people with TB to undergo treatment and get back to good health.
TB stories were shared by TB champions from all the districts. Dr Swuduvelu Ngully, Medical Officer (NTEP) dwelt on TB Science: Getting the basics of TB, Psycho social support to TB patients and Pathways to TB cure.
Temjenochetla Ao, PPM Coordinator shared on the topic ‘Understanding TB burden in India with special reference to Nagaland and district level scenario.’
Understanding NTEP Organogram –National and State, Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhayian and Viksit Bharat Sanklap Yatra were presented by Thungchanbeni M Humtsoe, State IEC Officer (NTEP). This was followed by presentation on advocating and conducting community awareness to different stakeholders by Ojungsangla Longkumer, JHPIEGO.
TB champions from 11 districts participated in the workshop where they shared their stories about TB symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and successful completion of treatment, side effects and how they coped with it etc. Certificates were handed out to all the TB Champions by State TB Officer (NTEP).
TB survivor led State Network was launched on January 19. Newly elected office bearers of the Network include Monica as president, Haisong Newme as vice president, Avino L Aye as general secretary, Dhonshring Hasnu as treasurer and five executive members representing five districts.
Dr Vezokholu Theyo, State TB Officer expressed his gratitude to all the TB champions and partners for attending the workshop. She also encouraged all the TB champions to engage with NTEP programme and collectively work towards eliminating TB by 2025.
