
BASIC MINIMUM FACILITY FOR VOTERS: The Returning Officer for the upcoming elections has informed that as per instructions issued by Election Commission of India basic facilities such as drinking water, shed to stand, toilet, ramp for the physically challenged voters, including adequate lighting will be there. Instruction has been given to all districts to make available all this facilities. In all the districts model polling stations will be set up where activities in those polling stations will be web cast and the strong room where voting machines are kept will have video coverage along with security to ensure transparency.
MODEL CODE OF CONDUCT: Model code of conduct is now enforced with effect from March 5. All critical events are to be videographed, regarding filling of nomination, scrutiny, checking of EVMs, storage of EVMs, allotments of symbols, checking of important public meetings. The Election Commission is making efforts to ensure a transparent, free and fair and peaceful elections.
ELECTION OBSERVERS: There will be two general observers, two Expenditure Observers and one Police Observer. Since Nagaland falls under the expenditure sensitive state category more attention is given to Expenditure monitoring. Moreover maximum expenditure for a candidate has been increased to 70 lakhs.
